Letting go is the beginning of Faith because we can even begin to have faith without Jesus. You can have faith in other things, like people, money and a great future but you cannot have faith in Jesus with out Jesus.
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
We must fix our eyes on heavenly things and not on earthly things and this is how we are to walk the rest of our days. For Jesus loves those who love Him and accepts those who accept Him. This has to be heart felt love and faith that one carries forever in them.
Romans 1:16-17 (NIV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”[b]
As we know there will be true and false disciple and it hard to see the difference and the only things that Jesus says is the difference is the heart. (i.e. Love for Him)
True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Out of true love for Jesus, we will begin to hear and do God's will. That is when we will move in his power. 1 Corinthians 13 sums this all up, Jesus wants our love first and foremost. He will do the rest.
